  A CORRECTION:
  
  Wondering why your holiday dessert didn’t work out? It’s us, not you. In the recipe for Milburn Orchards’ apple pie in our December 2011 issue, we omitted a key ingredient: 1 1/2 cups vegetable shortening in the crust. Maryland Life apologizes for the resulting pastiness.

• Mother's Apple Pie Recipie

  Something was very wrong with the crust part of the recipie. We figured that a key ingredient (either shortning or butter) got left out.
  
  The pie crust most resembled and tasted like drywall.
  
  I think you need to print a recipe correction. Also, it would be a good idea to test the recipie before publishing.
  
  Other than this pie, our Thanksgiving dinner was great.
