MYVoice Peace of Mind

Art by Mckenzie Suppa

Peace of Mind

Everyday I go to school and try to be nice

Everyday I go to school and girls are getting’ in my face

And pickin’ fights

Why can't they respect me for me

And let me be free

I'll tell you why and this is true

Deep down you know it too

All you girls are so dang busy tryin’ to be the same

Your insecurities make you afraid of change

How I wear my hair or the clothes that I wear

Tell me why you really care

I'm so sick of playin’ this stupid old vicious game

Where is truth

Where are you

And where is your heart

You should find yourself and have respect for those who drift apart

This is for all of you who are in the same position as me

Just go to school and don't care what people think

Hold your head up high and don't you dare cry

I promise you later on you'll understand why

Ridgely Middle School student Mckenzie Suppa wrote this song because it helped her deal with bullying. She hopes it helps other students who are also dealing with this issue.

    Dear Kenzie,
Wonderful words and wisdom. I applaud you for saying things so well. Stay well and strong and don't let yourself be brought down by your nasty peers.
I am a friend of your Great Aunt Char.
