Robert E. "Bob" Carruthers is retired from the U.S. Marine Corps. Awarded a Bronze Star for service in Vietnam, Lieutenant Colonel Carruthers retired from the Marines after 23 years of service in July 1971 and worked as a communications engineer until retiring for good in 1995. Enjoying retirement, he toured the 49 mainland states in a motor home for three years before returning to Annapolis, where he worked part time as a boat captain for the Annapolis Harbormaster.
