  • old theaters

I love old theaters. They have my generations hearts. We many times gotten our first kiss there. This is a very cool story! Remember the "big screen" has a whole new meaning these days, like a 52 inch home theater thing. But nothing beats those days of popcorn and your favorite guys arm inching around your shoulders. Sipping a Coke and watching John Wayne kick some bad guys butt!

  • The Silver Theater

Even after all of these years and the wonderful memories I have of my time working at the Silver Theater when I was in high school, I am so pleased it still remains a cornerstone of Silver Spring, and has retained all of it's beauty and splendor even after the renovations. Back in 1961 it was a beautiful theater, but few were able to really enjoy the beauty of the theater, because most of their time inside, it was dark for viewing the movies. When the house lights were on the people were then concentrating on leaving, and not taking a minute or two to look around and take in the true splendor of the theater. It was a beautiful theater back in 1961, and it is even more majestic now.
I again would like to thank Maryland Life magazine and Monica Hesse for their time, research and remembering the "Wonderful Silver Theater". So many very fond memories of days gone by for myself and many more folks too, I am sure.
