  • Save the Poe House

It is unfortunate that the Poe House is threatened with being closed. America can do better than this with preserving and maintaining its historical areas. With all the corporate growth (and wealth) in the Inner Harbor area, I can't believe that some corporation won't come forward and contribute the annual funding to keep this structure open. Shame, Baltimore.

  • Pennies For Poe

I live in England, but have visited the Poe house and grave in Baltimore many times, and must say I am somewhat shocked to hear that the house might actually close due to a lack of funds. America is well known throughout the world for preserving its heritage and to let such a monument come up against such hard times it truly incomprehensible. Edgar Allan Poe gave the world so much and influenced so many other authors, musicians, poets, film makers, etc, even the thought of the closure of the Poe House is something I never would have imagined, and I have a very good imagination. If the Poe House closes it will have a devastating effect on many around the world, not just in America, and I would ask the US government to step in a make sure a plan is put in place to keep the Poe House open for posterity.
