The subject of this exhibit is fences. Yes, the very fences that line our yards, mark our territories, and provide us with security.
Between Fences will enlighten visitors on the multiple meanings of the fence and how it is closely intertwined with American politics, industry, and every day life. The exhibit will also feature materials used to produce and install the fences as well as photographs and publications.
Throughout the next year, Between Fences will be traveling to six Maryland cities and each host city will include some of its own history in the exhibition. Local stories about borders, bridges, town architecture and civility between neighbors are some of the topics that will be covered.
