The Maryland Life team has been very busy the past two months working on some big changes, namely a redesign of the magazine.

Why?

“Engagement,” says Dan Patrell, publisher. “We want to build upon what we’ve done and what we’ve perfected and create a magazine that further engages our readers on a variety of fronts.”

So, with that in mind, I want to share with you some of the changes you’ll see soon in the next issue and online.

A New Look

Last summer, we welcomed a new graphic designer, Marie Boshoff, to our team. She’s done a wonderful job building a new look for the magazine. In the next issue, on newsstands in March, we’ll also unveil new departments such as “D.I.Y,” a step-by-step guide to improving a space in your home, and “Scrapbook,” a reader-submitted collection of images based on a theme (a big thank you to all our readers who submitted spring photos for the first Scrapbook!)

A New Digital Version

Maryland Life will soon be available on your computer, iPad, iPhone, or other compatible devices. Our digital publications are page-for-page just like our print issues with a few enhancements, such as live hyperlinks, and will be available to paid subscribers only as part of their subscription price. Special digital-only subscriptions will also available. Stay tuned to MarylandLife.com for more details.

A New Facebook Page

If you have a Facebook account, you’ve undoubtedly noticed the changes to your profile page. And you’ve probably noticed that the pages you “like” are changing, too. We’ll be changing our page to the new format on March 1.

In this new format, you’ll find that our tabs have moved to the left side of the page, underneath our profile photo. This is where you’ll find the tab to join our email list (see more about the newsletter below), our latest subscriptions offers, our wall and our information tab. The new format will also allow Maryland Life to like other pages, which we can then share with you.

We’re exciting about the changes to Facebook because these changes will help us interact more with our readers. So, please, stop by and “like” our page, if you haven’t already, and leave us a message on our wall.

A New(ish) Newsletter

Our email newsletter isn’t exactly new – we’ve been sending it out for awhile now – but we have changed the content, slightly, and the frequency. Maryland Life Dispatch now appears in your inbox twice a month and features web-exclusive articles, popular blog posts, event information, articles from the archives and more.

Have you subscribed to our email Newsletter yet? What are you waiting for?
