We all know that Preakness is more than just the race—it’s about looking classy in a summer dress and astonishing hat. Moses, celebrity hair master stylist, shares insider tips and tricks to keeping your hair looking great during the event.
For a classy hairstyle, use texturizer to sleek your hair back. “Bangs should be pinned back, away from the face for a more elegant look,” says Moses. If your hair is chin length, pull it back behind your ear.
In a hurry? Try a side ponytail. Begin with soft curls, fasten with a hair band and position at one side of the neck. Tease the crown to add drama to your look.
To rock your hairstyle with and without your hat, carry a travel-size hair product in your purse to freshen up your do. Moses recommends a smoothing elixir oil. Work a quarter-size drop through your hair, flip hair upside down and tousle it to get a new shape.
Do you have curly hair? Combat the Maryland humidity with shampoo, conditioner and a hair mask. Moses recommends a smoothing elixir shampoo and conditioner followed by his Smoothing Elixir Hair Mask to sleek hair back. Complete your look with a mid-level ponytail.
If your hair is flat or pin straight, try mousse. Flip your hair upside down and concentrate on the ends to make it dense. Mousse is light and will hold all day.
