Rock and Roast

Have you purchased your ticket to the party of the year yet? The Box of Rain Foundation is hosting its annual Rock and Roast party on May 12 from 6-10 p.m. at the Annapolis Maritime Museum located at 723 2nd Street in Eastport. Last year, more than 300 people attended this wonderful night of food, drinks, and dancing!

All Rock and Roast proceeds will benefit Box of Rain, a non-profit organization, formed in May 2003 to honor the memory of Lee Griffin. The program, which aims to teach life building skills through maritime experiences for kids 9-14 years old, celebrates Lee’s life and passion for sailing and his community is celebrated in the program.

There will be a “Margaritaville” style adult trike raffle, plus live and silent auctions. Some of the coveted auction items will include the Rock and Roast signature painting “Sandbagger,” a “Coot” wooden rowboat built by Box of Rain program participants, vacation packages, fitness sessions, and gift certificates to local restaurants.

Live music from The Shatners, a popular local band, will be featured.

General Tickets cost $50 and include an oyster roast, delicious pit beef BBQ, sushi bar, an Eastport low country shrimp boil, beer, wine, and the Rock and Roast signature cocktail, the Sugar Magnolia. Tervis Tickets cost $75 and include the same advantages as General Tickets, plus a custom Box of Rain 16 oz. Tervis tumbler. Rock and Roast tickets can be purchased online at boxofrain.org.

Volunteers are what make this event a success and those interested in helping out can sign up at mysignup.com/2012rock.

Rock and Roast Honorary Chair and Boatyard Bar & Grill owner, Dick Franyo welcomes guests back to his restaurant for the post Rock and Roast party.

Lauren Burke is an assistant account executive at the Weitzman Agency in Annapolis.
