The Maryland Theatre is the anchor of the Downtown Hagerstown Arts & Entertainment District. The Theatre not only serves as a tourist attraction but also as an amenity for our community. In 2013, The Maryland Theatre Association celebrates its 97th anniversary in serving patrons. The Maryland Theatre is served by a 15 member Board of Directors consisting of business leaders from our community. This volunteer Board of Directors is complimented by a part time Operations Manager and a full time staff of two plus a part time maintenance manager. Complimenting this team is a long honored tradition of community volunteers that number as high as thirty. The Maryland Theatre operates on a business model including three main focuses: developing community partnerships with other non-profits, locally owned businesses and fundraising efforts; improving operational practices in order to better support our community; and ensuring Theatre restoration in order to show appreciation for the facility as a historic landmark for generations to come. It is the mission of The Maryland Theatre to provide quality entertainment, educational and cultural offerings to all different demographics of people.
